Metacognition - Learning about Learning

Many of Scotland’s schools are engaged in developing metacognitive skills in learners.  Metacognition enables pupils to reflect on and develop a greater understanding of how they learn and what they might do to help them become more successful learners.   Some of the UK’s leading educationalists including Dylan Wiliam, Stephen Heppell and Brian Boyd explain why developing metacognitive skills in learners is an important aspect of Curriculum for Excellence.
